(click above to view) About the project: Now: Here: This is an international exhibition that explores the idea of artistic community in an era when artists frequently relocate, and boundaries are continually made less relevant by communications technology and travel. This project includes artists from around the world, including those living in Artists Unite's physical community in Washington Heights/Inwood. Designated Fridays at 16:00 GMT (11:00 a.m. Eastern), these artists create an "art spark" that is intended to keep the art engine going in the hearts of the virtual and physical communities by each creating work to be exhibited on this site. Each artist also states the most important thing on his/her mind right now, offering a rare glimpse into the process, agendas, and idiosyncrasies of the artists' minds. The goal is to create and sustain a virtual community where art is the raison d'etre. -Peter Ferko, Project Director Virtual Comunidad 2005 is funded in part by a grant from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Previous "chapters" of this project were entitled Now: Here: This and Virtual: Comunidad and are archived. See Archived Exhibits to the right. |
Artists are invited to join Now: Here: This. You are encouraged to participate as often as you like. (Please see disclaimer below). Artists are encouraged to invite other artists and curators are invited to join Virtual:Comunidad. See below.
ARTISTS: To participate, create
a piece of art on the day specified above at 11:00 U.S. Eastern time,
(16:00 GMT). (If you are unavailable at that time, make
a piece THIS WEEK--do not submit
work from your own collection of past work). The DEADLINE for submitting is Monday following the art spark to be in the resulting exhibit.
ARTIST INVITEES, GROUPS, or CURATORS: If you invite a colleague(s) and want to show your work together or you curate a submission around some theme, clearly state who is involved in the group and the work will be exhibited as a group piece. Curators may curate a group without submitting work as an artist. You may also submit a brief overview of your group submission to serve as an introduction to the sub-exhibit. Curators may also submit a proposed theme for interested artists to take up in the next week, using the site as a virtual studio for ideas. The proposal will be posted on the exhibit page in the current week. DISCLAIMER
Artists Unite takes no responsibility for work submitted beyond posting it with the information received from artists. Artists exhibit at their own risk. (Copyright notice appears on the exhibition pages.) Thank you for participating! |
