Welcome:Bienvenidos
This exhibit is an "art spark" generated by a community of artists living around the world. Every week, we meet at this virtual studio/gallery to share work and the most important thing on our minds.

Artists are invited to join Virtual:Comunidad.

I am thinking about what might be going on in the world at this very moment

in time as I make these dots and then connect them to other dots.

If a butterflys wings can start a hurricane what can a man making an
abstract picture cause?

Is this what Mondrian was thinking?

I saw a man pursuing the horizon

I saw a man pursuing the horizon;
Round and round they sped.
I was disturbed at this;
I accosted the man.
"It is futile," I said,
"You can never -"
"You lie," he cried,
And ran on.

True being is not a matter of memorizing texts.

It’s not a discipline that needs to be practiced, nor does it require mastery over debating techniques. There is nothing intellectual about it at all.

True being is a sensuous feeling of wonder. It’s about having a completely open heart.

It’s what babies naturally do, before they get indoctrinated into belief systems.

What a Woman Wants
Image Nine: Enlightenment

I find it jarring to know that I can get in my car and drive to the mall minutes from my home with its white picket fence, go to the bookstore, purchase a book about how to pleasure myself, and even have a cup of hot cappuccino with whipped cream on my way out, while on the same day in a brothel in Bombay, India, a young virgin who refuses to comply with her would-be pimp is stripped naked, beaten, and has a rod smeared with red pepper paste shoved into her vagina. The knowledge of these dual realities sickens me.
So what do I want? Is it too much to ask that each woman on the face of the planet have ownership of the truly holy place between her legs, that her “anatomical jewel” (www.ingalagringa.com) be shared and enjoyed by exclusive invitation only? How you treat a woman’s body reflects so much about how you treat the world, the planet, the earth, humanity.
I want to live in a world where we value ourselves and value each other.
When will the breakthrough occur?

This week I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed by responsibilities and obligations. Also, I think Dick Cheney is pathological.

Before I was married to Wendy, back when I lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I was enamored with the residue of light across my camera's moving lens. The opposite of a movie, these motion-blurred photos became a series that I still dabble in called, At First Glance. This week, Joel Adas and I went gallery hopping and just generally wandering in Williamsburg. I couldn't resist trying another cut at the source material of one of my favorite old photos from 2001: the diner on Berry St.

The new photo is apropos: clearer, bluer, brighter, an underlying layer of red as a reminder of old pain, a searing streak emerging to blast me into the future.

my memories of being this age are so hazy. i was filled with angst and fear and i didn't know how to relate to the big wide world. so i just had to jump right in. no one taught me how, and when they tried to, i rejected the information. now i am the mother and i'm full of wisdom i'm just dying to impart. isn't it so bloody funny that he doesn't want my help? i have to rely on the fact that everything that has gone into the relationship up until this point is in there as the ground that he now will build his life on and that in part of his heart he is still listening.

Note:

There will be no new exhibit on July 5th as I will be visiting comunidad members in Russia. A new exhibit will hopefully be up the following week.
