Self Portrait, Russia
I assumed russia would seem the most alien place on earth.
instead moscow looks like Rome. St Petersburg also looked like rome, but
in a different way. The people are really nice, but they seem to drop
into two categories: people who are artists, who are just like the artists
I know everywhere; and people who seem like they come out of versace ads.
But I like it a lot. it seems like a good place to live. The people seem
to like their new capitalist economy, even though I am falsely reminiscent
for the Russia I've heard about but never seen.

Public Transit
About six months ago my fiancee and I moved to a neighborhood that is
a little off the beaten track. I can still walk to most of the places
I need to go, but I've been using the bus a lot more. The one I usually
take stops right behind my house, and runs through the middle of downtown,
though there aren't as many angry, crazy people riding aimlessly as on
many of the other lines. There's an amazing guy I've seen a few times
in the morning - a typical mid-thirties suit, except that he has his baby
boy [baby like 5 or 6 months I think] strapped on going to work with him.
I think it's fantastic that this guy can play the 9-5 role on the one
hand AND play an expanded role in nurturing his kid. Of course both father
and son get lots of attention from *all* the ladies on the bus, which
can't hurt. Concrete hope for the future of the world!

I'm thinking about Soul Families and the their relation to the 13 month
calendar. How many Blue Solar Monkeys fit on the head of a pin?

Horizon made with Pond Water
Most on my mind is autonomy, which I've been digging lately.
So on my horizon when I see a sunset or you, I'm in the equation. It feels
relaxing not being so focused on "the other."
