still life with good news
On my mind: Politics as service. Life as relationship. Art
as life. Greed as passé. |

Reality
I was thinking about how love makes one feel affection for the details
of life.
Like standing barefoot in grass.
I found this poem of sorts I wrote last summer:
I felt loved by my trout and pear salad today.
It was quite a creation, really,
the tangy, lemony vinaigrette
bathing the tender leaves of arugula
that cushioned the salted trout
and succulent, yet delicate half moons of pear
tiny round mushes of potato
hidden within
and finely minced touches of slender green onion
the sips of merlot that made me tingly
your happy face and the slight grazing of your foot
and then your calf beneath the table
the sound of your voice
and the soft brown of your eyes
the twins,
the Dubliner,
the breeze from the ceiling fans
and the people all around
the green trees outside the open doors. |

Scratched window with Raindrops
What's on my mind: Freedom of expression. The idea that
a ban on photography in the subways has just been imposed inspired me
to rush out and start shooting as many pictures as possible.

Found on the internet:
I know Pat does web stuff, and on an off moment I Googled her to see if
I could find other stuff she's done - I found this:
"PP duellist
A famous duellist, PP of Darrigle (near Portlaw) was a fat, robust
man, given to intemperance. He once fought a fire-eating companion named
Bob Briscoe, but as he was his friend he only shot off his whiskers and
the top of his ear.

5 years old
Almost everything I know and feel today, I’ve known and felt since
I was five years old.
What I know and feel, was given to me in an instant.
Remember what you thought and felt, when you first saw the plane hit
The Tower?
That’s the closest that I have come, to feeling anything remotely
close to what I felt in that earlier instance. It was just like that,
only infinitely stronger.
It was like the entire universe, smashed into the structure of what I
understood life to be. On that day, I lost the ability to have any concepts
of my own.
I’ve ever since gone through life, trying on everyone else’s,
offering no resistance, beyond trying to understand, and asking my questions
when I didn’t.
I’ve never disengaged from anyone. I have no mechanism to do such
a thing. The most important person in my life, has always been, whomever
I happen to be talking to.
I think about what they say, and I tell them what I think.
I doubt you would find a single exception. |
