These OK Miss?
In the spirt of Anthony Gonzalez's Aug. 6th entry about
the little girl's response to his dog:
I was in a store trying on sunglasses when a short older
hispanic woman wearing sunglasses with a tag on them said to me, "these
OK miss?" ... so cute. I said, "yeah but who wants to see the
world thru gray glass?" She stood there. I picked out two amber-tinted
pairs and handed them to her to try on. I wasn't sure she was understanding
me until I told her that one pair was hip and she laughed, then she slowly
walked in the direction of the cash register. |

roots in the mud
good clean forest after the rain mud. thinking of
the lotus with its roots in the mud... symbol of spiritual unfoldment.
if you don't start with your roots in the mud, you don't start.
when you let your roots down, then the lotus at the crown begins to lift.

Yellow Sundress w/ Red, White & Blue
On My Mind:
I casually dropped the torn flag on
the yellow purse last week
and liked the way it folded.
When moved, it fell. This morning,
working by an open window
I tried to catch the same effect,
throwing it on over and over again,
hoping that the breeze would give
the proper lift. Nothing was right:
too much red, too many stars,
bad angle, too close to the string.
I became anxious_
this is a waste of time,
move on.
The day is mine, why can't I spend my morning
throwing red white and blue on yellow? If it were a painting,
would I allow myself to work and rework the color?
The warm air,
iTunes madrigals
and the rhythm of
the fall opened
childhood admonitions
that dragged me from myself.
"Hurry, Hurry. There's miles to go
before you sleep. Step on a crack,
break your mother's back."
I listened to this fearful voice
afraid of being that
had now become my own
and let the flag fall
where it fell.
Letting go of yesterday
I found it to my liking
and see the legs
don't really work.
