Welcome:Bienvenidos
This
exhibit is an "art spark" generated by a community of artists
living around the world. Every week, we meet at this virtual studio/gallery
to share work and
the most important thing on our minds.

Today I'm switching my summer and winter clothes causing
reflection on the last 6 months which is usually uncomfortable ... looking
at stuff I've avoided, etc., ick. Letting go of the summer is hard for
me. Some of the few things that get me thru the cold weather are flannel
sheets, navel oranges, and wearing sweaters. Meanwhile, I'm trying to
see Autumn for what it is and not what follows. |

...this week is a continuation of last; the second internal image--some
abstract sense of what's going on in there? What's on the inside? What's
it look like? This week's internal fantasy. |

Viva La Vulva, Thoughts on reading Betty Dodson
I have been reading Sex For One, The Joy of Selfloving, by Betty
Dodson,
the famed seventies advocate for masturbation as a legitimate mode of
lovemaking, both alone and with a partner. There is a section in her book
where she described how she would give slide show presentations of the
female genitals to women’s groups. She would get standing ovations,
and had all these anectodes about women thanking her for giving them peace
of mind that they were not deformed, that nothing was “wrong”
with them, that they were, in fact, each beautiful, unique and fascinating
the way different flowers are fascinating. One woman told her that the
day after she saw the presentation, she felt so good about herself, that
she went and asked her boss for a raise and got it. Things have slowly
changed, but not all THAT much. Do men make more money than women because
we are not on as loving terms with our pussies as they are with their
dicks? I wonder. It makes me ponder the touchstones and the impact of
value, and of self esteem.
Anyway, I just so happen to find myself in a position where I plan to
ask for more money at work this week, hence my submission - wish me luck! |

maybe if i were a tree, i wouldn't have to feel all the human emotions.
and i could live to be 100 and be admired rather than be tossed aside
for being the age that i am. as this tree i would bear a poison apple
for those who dare to take my last apple from me. |

It is said that boiling eggshells is one way to discover whether your
infant child has been replaced by a faerie changeling. A changeling will
cackle with an old man's laughter at the idea of making dinner from eggshells. |

Not Art, just art-full. Not for sale, just for pleasure. Not for a living,
just for living. |

Seeking
I'm thinking about my work in the arts. So much effort;
so little result. I try to listen to my own advice to just take each tiny
success for a miracle as accomplishing anything is virtually impossible.
I need to find a more satisfying way to work. This is ridiculous. |
