Jesusland
Poor Jesus, he's really getting a bad rap. My animation
doesn't really reflect my sadness, which I've been primarily feeling.
The battle has been so consuming, I'm looking forward to the texture of
my life returning.

"I can't believe that!" said Alice.
"Can't you?" the queen said in a pitying tone. "Try again,
draw a long breath, and shut your eyes."
Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said. "One
can't believe impossible things."
"I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the queen.
"When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why,
sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

Decision 2004 (Howl)
So many well-meaning, kind, sincere, good people are so threatened by
us infidel, homosexual-tolerating, tree-hugging, baby killers. I have
never been more proud to call myself a New Yorker.
"I can't go on. I must go on. I go
on."

Name That Tune
I am filled with hope for all the possibilites before us
in finding the
deepest truths to lead us out of the lies and deciet spread upon our land.
Everywhere millions and millions are gathering to turn hate and fear into
love, revealing the shadow for what it is: blocked light.
"Perhaps the time is now ripe when
the mystic can break the glass through which he sees all things darkly,
and the rationalist can break the glass through which he sees all things
clearly and both together can enter the kingdom of psychological reality."

Well, it's clear from last week that MY prayers don't get answered. Maybe
I'm dealing with the wrong dieties. So, I'm sticking with this guy for
the next four years. I don't think he does prayers but he does inspire
me to stick with "what is" from a deeper and wider place. For
me, that seems to be what is needed right now

Angel Me
If I had wings, they might sprout from my shoulder blades.
I like to imagine that I can fly, and that I have magical powers to transcend
things that frighten me. I am gently permitting myself to think about
angels again. As a child, like many children, I imagined that I was surrounded
by their protection in my scariest and saddest moments. If they do exist,
perhaps they just want to have fun, too.
Imagination is a good thing.

soho new york, circa 2004
on my mind (a repetitive but ever widening loop): that it's
so hard to give up even the little things we're attached to (morning coffee,
cable tv, brownies); that in general we are not taught to be empathetic
and end up hurting each other with endless little unkindnesses that we
mentally justify without knowing it; that we don't know how to listen
because we're always talking; it goes on... i realize more fully now than
at the beginning of the week that because i share my ground (a plot of
land, an educational system, a socio-economic reality) with the people
who re-elected bush, my ground is deeply compromised and i'm torn about
how to deal with it...instinct to run, but where?

At First Glance series: rusty fence
Expatriate, Inc.
If I worked for a corporation that started increasingly
polluting the environment; shifted its strategy to begin producing military
products without concern for whether my fellow workers were able to make
a living with this strategy; began lying to its employees and made it
corporate policy to spy on them; started imposing its brand everywhere
by flooding the market or using hostile takeovers, and told me that God
was directing the company...I would get a new job.
