my path
gee i hope fun and the daily grind of work doesn't sidetrack me on my
path. i must remember. remind myself.
don't get off the path. the path is this way. i hope i don't forget.
although it could be that the work and fun is on the path as well.
but i must follow the path of plans. it will not be easy. i hope it doesn't
rain. |

Up The River
I inherited a lovely plaid shirt from my friend Tomar's
father which I'm taking up to New Paltz (BLUE state); going where the
weather suits my clothes. My friends have 72 acres worth of clean air
to breath which will soon be circulating in the shirt. So, I plan
on affecting what's on my mind by following my clothes. |

Like the sunset, I am fading this week. I don't know that I am fading
as elegantly as the sunset. The pre- and post-election has done me in
and I'm dipping below the horizon, at least for now. But we will all rise
again and that will be an elegant sight. |

Ozone Man
I am still nursing my disappointment over the presidential election -
feeling incomplete, and confrontational - having the urge to convince
someone of something - to effect something, so I don't feel so helpless.
Our founding fathers were distrustful of power, and the potential for
our leaders to abuse it. They tried to build into our governmental structure
safeguards against the tyranny of the majority. What I fear we are about
to witness, is the tyranny of the majority with a vengeance. |

Naughty Me
Often, after I express what is really on my mind, I think, "Uh
oh, I shouldn’t have said that. Maybe it wasn't 'appropriate'"
Yet, I want people around me to be honest and spontaneous, rather than
"appropriate." I can imagine interactions to be the way I want
them to be, with every person being totally honest with every other person.
I wonder if society would then just fall apart.
I like to think it would just be a tremendous relief. |

Self Portrait in Transition
I saw close to 25 shows this week, most with newlyweds Gubbiotti
and Charpentier, who are visiting from France; I read loads of cries about
how to react (or not react) to the election online, in the Voice, and
from Tim Folzenlogen; in my head I have moved to France, Vermont, Canada,
California, Italy, and nowhere at all; I'm about to turn another year
older and am caring less and less about figuring out how to make a mark
in life--but that's not what I wanted to say. I wanted to talk about the
resulting inspiration toward making marks and creating texture: rich backgrounds
and subtle influences on what's there--like the effect of the nostalgic
sound of Outlandos d'Amour behind my musing keyboard clicks. (We were
born, born in the fifties...) |
