Gardner Chamber Orchestra
The resident orchestra of the Gardner Museum, the Gardner Chamber Orchestra performs several times each season at the museum, under the baton of oboist and conductor Douglas Boyd. The orchestra was founded in 1991 by music director Scott Nickrenz to bring music to the museum in the way that its founder, Isabella Stewart Gardner envisioned: supporting young artists and presenting concerts that integrate music and the artful environment of the Gardner Museum. Young musicians studying at colleges and conservatories throughout Boston are given the opportunity to play great music under the direction of distinguished artists, offering fresh, energetic performances for audiences while enhancing their own learning.
